About the project.

Welcome to the Family to Family blog!

Our goal is to aid families affected by Hurricane Katrina as they leave the shelters.  We will provide information for donors who wish to offer gifts of household and personal supplies and equipment in the most expedient and reliable manner possible. We achieve this by:

• Working with 'boots on the ground' volunteers and contacts in the disaster zone who ascertain lists of critical supplies and equipment needed by the families as they begin their new lives.

• Publishing these reports on the blog so you will know exactly what items to donate.

• Providing complete and current contact information so you can ship your donations DIRECTLY to the churches/distribution centers/relief missions who will distribute items to the designated families.  We realize you want your donation shipments to be used immediately by these families in need, and not sitting in a warehouse for weeks on end.

This is a formula that works well for both donors and those who need our help.  We know this from the continuing success of our first blog, Hurricane Katrina Direct Relief!  It is our hope that we can serve everyone with the same effectiveness.

I know many families need essentials. But. . .with the holidays coming how about adding a special holiday wish list where families (moms and dads included) can post some wishes for special extras.
